It is with much sadness that we announce Stock & Pantry will be permanently closing our doors on Friday October 23rd.
The website will also be shut down at 6pm on the 23rd.
The store, and our wonderful community of designers and customers (friends!) has been our passion for over 4 years, and while we have done everything possible in order to stay open, and exhausted every avenue for help, we’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision that we can’t make it work any longer in this format and during these times:
On March 11th, 2017 we opened the doors to Stock & Pantry at our sweet little shop in our own Capitol Hill neighborhood, to bring a little bit of a new experience to Seattle; a clean, modern but warm and welcoming space, stocked with items of quality, not found everywhere. Things to make your home cozy and beautiful, things to make your friends and family happy, books to take a deep dive into, and to decorate with! A bit of Japanese design, a bit of Scandinavian (two great loves) some Rock n Roll, with complimentary vibes thrown in.
We designed the space to feel calm and peaceful and set items out to be touched and to be welcomed, as we greeted you over the next 3 + years, many of you regulars, many becoming very good friends. Things were fabulous.
Then we have 2020 - the pandemic hit. As soon as the first cases were being reported in January, our business slowed to a crawl. Once the first case in the U.S. was reported in February, and in Washington State no less, business came to a total halt.
We temporarily closed our doors on March 16th, 2020.
In late May came widespread protests, social and civic unrest across the country, and in Seattle this concentrated in our neighborhood and continues to this day in some form.
Once some restrictions were lifted for Phase 2 opening on June 19th, we began to offer local delivery and curbside pick-up, shipping and eventually “shop by appointment” in the store. But understandably many did not want to venture to the neighborhood, and even more have prioritized far more important essentials during this time – and as you can imagine this took its final toll.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our loyal customers, neighbors, local press and friends for your support and business over the past few years; meeting everyone and seeing you enjoy the shop has been a joy, and exactly what we set out to accomplish when we first envisioned the concept.
Please continue to support all small businesses here and everywhere!
We at S&P know that local, independent businesses are, and always have been, the backbone of a healthy, creative and inclusive neighborhood that typically thrives in a neighborhood like ours – right now that is harder than people can imagine – shop those gems that tough it out, they need you.
We appreciate you all so much and hope you will join us very soon on our NEXT ADVENTURE…Stay tuned!!!
